From the instantly gratifying drive of the powerful riffing and soaring guitar solos to the mystical vocal delivery and powerhouse drumming; Chariots Overdrive make their presence known with a bang on their debut album. From the in-your-face attitude of NWOBHM to the epic tinge of USPM classics and a strong hint of Metalucifer in their sound; this is a heavy metal headbanger’s dream. Mixed and mastered by Greg Hendler, the strong and natural sound on this album will certainly grip those who prefer the stripped back force of the 80s to be as untainted as possible. Sometimes albums just feel more unashamedly passionate in their execution, and this is one of those. Clearly a heavy metal record made by people who simply love making this music with an earnest charm that cannot easily be ignored. That said, this album has plenty of exciting twists and turns with these strange little progressions creeping into the marching assault of pure heavy metal to ensure maximum excitement. Furthermore the album’s lyrics are inspired by ancient chinese historical texts and mythic tales / fantasies, a theme that is rarely explored in heavy metal and adds to the uniqueness of the record. You will certainly be impressed by how this band has conjured such a complete vision on their first album. It has this totally complete atmosphere and is an exhilarating conquest to follow with plentiful attention to detail and embellishments on the classic heavy metal formula to keep offering something new and fresh while harnessing all of the power of their forebears. The melodies will ring in your ears long after this album finishes and the grooves will bite you and the infection will have you coming back for more. Across these nine epic pieces you will feel sorrow, excitement, battle-rage and most of all a potent sense of adventure that is conveyed with the most subtly nuanced passages through to balls-to-the-wall hard-rocker anthems. A diverse journey that deserves your full attention
