His Name is Alive “Livonia” LP

His Name Is Alives 1990 4AD label debutLivoniacemented the bands presence

among 4ADs well-established ethereallineage, reinventing and refracting the labelssound through a prism. A tender and slightlyderanged dream-pop record, it packagesnearly ten years of Defevers home recordings brought to haunting chorus via thespectral, feminine vocals of Karin Oliver.

Produced / mixed by Ivo Watts-Russell andThis Mortal Coil collaborator John

Fryer, the record is a powerful openingstatement, inviting intrigue via noisy refrainsand textural guitar. It examines the dualthemes of love and loss, woozily delivered asif dreamlike.
